Joshua’s tweet about Floyd Mayweather after win v Conor McGregor goes viral

Like every other professional boxer, Anthony Joshua only saw one outcome before Saturday night’s mega-money fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor in Las Vegas.
"He's coming out of his field and going into Mayweather's domain,” Joshua, per theLondon Evening Standard, said of McGregor before the bout. “Even though he's an excellent fighter in UFC, he's not an excellent boxer. Him crossing over is going to be a real, big challenge.
"He could give a good account of himself; I think Mayweather will win but as long as he gives a good account of himself, it'll work really well for him.”
Joshua’s prediction turned out to be spot on.
Mayweather did win, reasonably comfortably in the end, outclassing McGregor before finishing him off in the 10th round.

McGregor win probably won't enhance Mayweather's legacy

However, this wasn’t a victory that will drastically enhance Mayweather’s legacy. McGregor, after all, had never boxed competitively prior to this weekend and came from a completely different sport.
But the fight made a lot of sense from a business perspective and both fighters are now far wealthier after going head-to-head inside the T-Mobile Arena.
On Mayweather’s ’50-0’ tweet, which the 40-year-old sent hours after his victory over McGregor, the first reply says: “Well done. Now, how about a real fight?”
This echoes what many boxing fans have said over the past 24 hours.
Because McGregor isn’t a boxer, some people find it difficult to praise Mayweather for his latest victory.

Joshua's tweet about Mayweather goes viral

Joshua, however, believes it stems deeper than that.
The British heavyweight feels Mayweather is one of several major sporting stars who do not, for whatever reason, get the credit they deserve.
“I think Floyd Mayweather & Serena Williams do not get the credit they deserve,” Joshua tweeted. “Legends in their respective sports…”
Joshua’s tweet currently has almost 10,000 retweets and close to 30,000 ‘likes’, suggesting many people share the same opinion.
Let’s check out the replies…

Joshua: Rooney also doesn't get enough credit

Joshua then threw Wayne Rooney’s name into the mix. Another sporting star that, in his view, doesn’t get enough credit for his achievements.

Then Joshua asked Twitter for their thoughts

“Across all sports, who do you believe doesn't get the credit they deserve?! And why?” Joshua added.
There were some good shouts…
As well as the inevitable stupid replies…
