Chelsea make late bid for Real Madrid duo on deadline day
The Premier League Champions Chelsea has made an attempt to lure two Real Madrid players to the Stamford Bridge on the deadline day.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is set to add Real Madrid midfielders Mateo Kovacic and Marcos Llorente to the current crop of midfielders at his disposal so as to bolster the squad.
The champions are in the bid to retain the Premier League title having spent more than £130m this summer on securing the services of Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer.
And they had been expected to wrap up a deal for Arsenal contract rebel Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the BBC reported that he's snubbed them for a move proposed move to Liverpool.
According to Diario Gol, Chelsea is interested in signing Mateo Kovacic, the Croatian international star, 23, joined Real Madrid from Serie A giants Inter Milan two years ago but has not been able to break into the first team and has been reduced to a bench role.
Chelsea also want:
Marcos Llorente the Spaniard, 22, impressed on loan at Alaves last season and has made one appearance for Real Madrid this term, while Liverpool is also keeping tabs on Kovacic with Philippe Coutinho’s future still uncertain.
